Simon Cowell Said His Life Was Spared After Becoming A Dad

Simon Cowell has become a household name, thanks to his part on America’s Got Talent and other series like it. His method of judging captured the attention of millions from the very start.

What many people don’t know is that Cowell suffered a personal blow that turned his life upside down. His mother, Julie, died and he went into a state of depression that he stayed in for a very long time.

It wasn’t just that he had lost his mother, he had already lost his father 15 years earlier and the two of them together really left a devastating blow. At that point, he went on a downward spiral and nothing meant anything to him at that point.

In order to overcome this problem he tried to lose himself in his work. He said: “I was desperately unhappy. I wasn’t particularly enjoying my work. And just thought: “You know what? I’m just going to become a vampire then.” And I would work through until 7 o’clock or 8 o’clock in the morning. He would wake up at 2:00 or 3:00 in the afternoon and got addicted to that type of lifestyle.”

Simon said he loved the intensity and it seemed to fill the void of his loss. Because of his being a workaholic, he was successful but he wasn’t happy.

That is when he got a phone call that changed everything. It was from his fiancée, Lauren Silverman, and she told him that he was going to be a father. That gave him something to live for. He admitted it made him happy again.

Their son, Eric, was born on February 14, 2014. He said that he went from dying inside to finding joy again.

We are so happy that he was able to overcome his issue with depression and that he is a part of our lives.
