ICE has announced a record-setting immigration enforcement operation in South Texas after agents with the Harlingen Field Office arrested 238 people in a single day during a targeted operation on June 18.

According to the agency, the sweep focused on individuals living in the country illegally who had criminal histories, with assistance from federal, state, and local law enforcement partners. ICE said the arrests marked the highest number of targeted single-day arrests ever recorded by its Harlingen office.

Among those arrested were individuals previously convicted of crimes including attempted kidnapping, sexual battery, assault, and drug-related offenses. ICE also identified one detainee as an alleged Paisas gang member with multiple prior convictions and illegal reentry offenses.

Officials said many of those taken into custody could face additional federal charges for unlawfully reentering the United States after deportation.

The operation reflects the Trump administration’s continued emphasis on removing criminal illegal immigrants from U.S. communities, with ICE stating that public safety remains its top priority.
