Does The Top Sheet Go On Upside Down?

Over the years, there have been many debates. Some of those debates have been life-changing and have even changed the course of history but others just continue to be debated for our own personal feelings.

One debate that has been going on for many years is in regards to the pattern on bedsheets. It seems as if people have different viewpoints of how bedsheets should be put on the bed, with some of them putting the pattern upside down and others putting it on top.

First of all, bedsheets are not really something that requires a genius to put on. There are a few different sheets that must be included, but once you put them all together, you have a bed that is ready to sleep in.

At the same time, however, there may be something that we can learn and a professional named Sullivan May of Southern Living. They have weighed in on this age-old debate.

As far as the pattern on the bedsheet is concerned, the pattern side of the sheet should face downward. Does this sound a little strange to you? It does, until you learn why.

When the pattern is down on the top sheet, it will actually end up showing as you fold the top sheet over the duvet, quilt, or comforter. Rather than being hidden underneath the sheet, it will show for the world to see.

According to May, the top sheet should be folded an inch or two down over the top of the quilt or duvet. If both of them are folded more than one time, it will tend to look more like a hotel bed rather than a comfortable bed at home.

This really may seem simplistic, but if you are looking for a way to keep the bedroom as nice-looking as possible, then this is something to consider. Another thing to consider is using two pillows with pillowcases that match the set. It can either match the sheets or the quilt/duvet, although it is best if it matches both.

So, the next time you look at your bedroom, you can be happier with the way that it looks. You’re welcome.
