Brian Cox is known for his acting and the role that he played as the star of Succession. He also is a man with an opinion and not everybody agrees with what he has to say.
This happened recently when the 77-year-old actor appeared on an episode of The Starting Line Podcast. When having a conversation on topics of all sorts, he said something that touched a sour note with many of the listeners.
When discussing religion, he spoke about the Bible and gave his opinion. When asked by the host if religion holds humanity back, he said: “Oh considerably, yes – I think religion does hold us back because it’s belief systems which are outside ourselves.
They’re not dealing with who we are; we’re dealing with, ‘Oh if God says this and God does that…’”
They dug into the subject further, and how many people were concerned about the biological differences between mothers and fathers. He answered, saying: “Our fathers don’t condition ourselves because they’re too bloody selfish, but our mothers have to, because they have an umbilical – that’s what the umbilical cord is about …”
That is when he dropped the bomb, saying: “It’s Adam and Eve I mean the propaganda goes right way back. The Bible is one of the worst books ever, for me, from my point of view.
“Because it starts with the idea that Adam’s rib – you know that [from] Adam’s rib, this woman was created, and they’ll believe it cause they’re stupid enough.”
And many people also had comments he had a lot more to say on the subject, as did the commenters.
