Julia Andrews Was Joined With The Von Trapp Children For A Sing-Along In This Wholesome Video

While not everyone is a fan of musicals, the “Sound of Music” soundtrack stands as a monumental achievement in music history. Released in 1965 by RCA Victor, a label that boasted legends like Elvis Presley and Diana Ross, it quickly became the top-selling album in the UK in the 60s.

This success can largely be attributed to Julie Andrews, who brought Maria Von Trapp to life on screen, in a casting choice that director Robert Wise never second-guessed. Her performance, alongside the Von Trapp children, captured the essence of the true story detailed in the 1949 book, “The Story of the Trapp Family Singers.”

Dame Julie Andrews, honored with her title in 2000, has enjoyed a remarkable career, starring in classics like “Mary Poppins,” for which she earned an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1964 and a Golden Globe in 1965, “The Princess Diaries,” and lending her voice to the animated sensation “Despicable Me.”

Therefore, it came as no surprise when she was honored with the 48th AFI Life Achievement Award on June 9th of this year, a celebration of her impactful career and the happiness she has brought to audiences worldwide.

During this delightful clip from the presentation, Julie sings along to “Do-Re-Mi” as the audience looks back on her career. In a touching moment, the five remaining performers of the Von Trapp children joined Julie for an emotional chorus. They were Nicholas Hammond, who played 14-year-old Friedrich, Duane Chase who played 11-year-old Kurt, Angela Cartwright who played 10-year-old Brigitta, Debbie Turner who played 7-year-old Marta and Kym Karath who played the youngest Von Trap, 5-year-old Gretl.

In a heartwarming segment of the ceremony, Julie Andrews joined in singing “Do-Re-Mi,” leading to a nostalgic look back at her illustrious career. The reunion was made even more special with the participation of the Von Trapp children actors, Nicholas Hammond (Friedrich), Duane Chase (Kurt), Angela Cartwright (Brigitta), Debbie Turner (Marta), and Kym Karath (Gretl), who joined in for a poignant chorus.

Julie Andrews’ career has delighted people across the globe for more than seven decades. An actress, singer, and author, she is truly deserving of her accolades and awards, having left an indelible mark on the hearts and homes of her fans.
