I think all of us have experienced the excitement of getting something new and we just can’t wait to tear off the wrapping and start using it. This includes peeling off that protective layer of plastic, which is typically the most enjoyable part of the process.

Unfortunately, there are times when even the simplest project may turn into something that can only be described as disastrous. This was shown recently on TikTok when a creator went on to show what happened when they unboxed a new Smart TV.

Like many people would do, they started first by peeling off the protective layer of plastic that was covering the TV. After all, if you don’t take off the plastic, you are going to lose a lot of the enjoyment because it will affect the way the screen looks.

When she was sharing the video, she said that she bought the TV and thought that it would be similar to other electronic screens that would have protective plastic. It was a no-brainer for her to begin tearing it off, but it didn’t take long before they realized the horror behind it all.

“So we started peeling it off and we did not realize that it was the actual screen we were peeling off.”

By the time they realized their error, they had already torn about half of the screen away from the TV. The only thing that was showing behind the screen was a bright white light, and nobody wants to sit through hours of watching only a white light.

Since Kelsey had already torn about half of the screen off, she just let her husband tear the rest of the screen completely off of the TV. She admitted that the TV looked: ‘super nice and clear and shiny’ but is not exactly usable.

This would seem like a terrible disaster but she contacted Samsung and said that they were ‘cool’ with the situation. They even offered a replacement TV.

There were also many people who commented, including one who told the truth about what had happened. They said: “That’s not the entire screen. It’s just the polarizing film on top. Stick it on a pair of glasses and you have a private tv, noone else can see.”

Others were surprised that she didn’t figure out until it was too late that she was doing something wrong.

Oh well, I guess you live and learn.
