People know Martha Stewart for a wide variety of reasons. Some people may think about the way that she does crafts or cooks and others may remember the time that she spent in prison.

More recently, and especially as she was entering her 80s, Martha Stewart became well known for being the sex symbol. The entrepreneur was suddenly thrust into the limelight in a different way, as she was trying different fashion choices, and not everybody was happy with them.

This was seen recently at the Fashion Group International Night of Stars gala in New York City. Martha Stewart was there representing herself when people began to ask her questions, particularly why she wasn’t dressing for her own age.

This would have flustered most people but Stuart took it in stride. She asked: “Dressing for whose age?”

This really showed just how much she is willing to step outside the lines. She has empowered many people by the decisions she makes, including her wardrobe choices as she gets older. Social expectations have caused many to remain in the background but she takes them in stride.

She said: “I don’t think about age, I think people are more and more fabulous than they’ve ever been in their senior years, and I applaud every one of them.”

She went on to say how she has dressed the same since she was 17, and refuses to be dictated by the standards that society tries to hold out for her.

This isn’t only something that she says on the red carpet, she has made these fashion statements on social media. In addition, she is the oldest Sports Illustrated swimsuit model that ever made the cover.

Despite the fact that she has some critics, she continues to celebrate her individuality. Martha Stewart is known for fighting against the stereotypes and she continues to earn the respect of people, regardless of their age.
