There are some folks out there who believe that the rules just don’t apply to them and that they are little more than mere suggestions. However, in many cases, rules (such as the ones on public signs, for example) are put in place for a good reason and should be followed. This holds especially true if you encounter wild animals on their turf (or yours for that matter). That said, one tourist on Assateague Island, Just off the coast of Maryland, made the regrettable decision to ignore the “do not touch” signs and learned a very painful lesson.

The Assateague Island National Park is home to over 300 wild horses. These beautiful creatures are free to roam the island and attract curious tourists from around the globe. These are truly magnificent creatures, and while they may seem docile, they are legit wild animals. So, for the protection of the horses and humans on the island, there are signs posted all over the place, which clearly states:

“Horses bite, kick & charge. Keep at least 10 feet away. No feeding, touching, attracting. $100 minimum fine strictly enforced”.

On top of that, there are numerous campgrounds which have picnic tables with the written message,” Do Not Feed Horses” painted on them.

“Stay at least 40 feet (12 meters) or about one bus-length away from wild horses, which are all the horses you’ll encounter in our park,” states Assateague Island National Park’s website.

Contrary, to what some may choose to believe these are not polite suggestions, but rather strict rules that every guest on the island must adhere to for their own safety. However, one guest, while soaking up some sun while wearing an ill-advised black Speedo, noticed a wild horse passing through the crowd and decided to take a much closer look, despite the warnings.

While other guests adhered to the rules, standing a safe distance away to observe the beautiful stallion, this Speedo-rocking adventurer figured it would be a great idea to walk over and touch the wild horse (you know the one those signs told him not to touch).  Because what’s the worse that could happen, right?

A bystander recording the wild horse captured what happened after the man reached out and touched the animal. Without making a sound, the horse casually raised his hind leg and kicked the man square in the groin in one smooth motion.

The man was immediately knocked to the sand. However, the man incredibly managed to pop right back up, although it was evident that he was in a great deal of pain.

A man who saw the incident said he cringed in pain for the man as the horse’s hoof made solid contact with the man’s privates. Online, people applauded the horse for reinforcing the park rules via a painful illustration of the consequences.

One person wrote:

“He deserved it, he decided to ignore all the warnings given by others (as well as the horse himself), maybe next time he’ll think twice before petting a wild horse.”

Another person summed it up perfectly when he wrote:

💥POW💥

But this comment was by far the winner:

“I believe that the horse’s name was nutcracker.”

Other guests helped the unnamed man. Hopefully, this video will serve as a cautionary tale for folks to think twice before ignoring danger signs, especially concerning wild animals.

You can watch this man learn his very hard lesson in the video below. And please be sure to share his pain with your friends and family.
