Ask any parent and they will quickly tell you that it is hard work to take care of children. That is especially true if you are a parent such as Gloria McIntosh, a mother from Ohio who has six children.

Gloria had spent the entire day working and she was exhausted. As often happens, she woke up at 3 AM and heard their 18-month-old son, Greyson stirring in the other room.

She did her best to sit and wait him out, hoping that he would go back to sleep but she had to roll over and check on him with the baby monitor. What she saw was something she never could’ve expected.

Mason, her 10-year-old son, was already in Greyson’s room. Nobody had asked him to go in, he was just in there to help out his little brother. He loves him, and he spent 30 minutes doing what he had to do to make the baby satisfied and help him fall back to sleep.

“I eventually came and got the baby, and asked my son why he didn’t just come get me,” Gloria said. “He said he wanted me to get some rest because I did a lot that day.”

She went on to say: “While parenting is not his responsibility, just the fact that he understood that he is his brother’s keeper, and considered my long days as a mom, is much appreciated.”

I don’t think that many children would have been there in this way for their baby brother or sister. We applaud you, Mason, and we know that you are going to do great things in life.
